He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is credited with significant advances in arthroscopic surgery, including development of the “lateral approach” to hip arthroscopy in 1984, pioneering arthroscopic surgical techniques to treat Femoroacetabular Impingement (FAI) and labral/cartilage hip preservation.

He has lectured and given seminars, both nationally and internationally, and performed surgeries as a visiting professor in several countries including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Ecuador, England, France, Germany, Mexico and South Korea.

Dr. Sampson is committed to hip preservation through arthroscopic surgical techniques. In most cases, he can diagnose subtle yet very painful conditions of the hip and get his patients back to life and sports.

He welcomes new patients with sports-related injuries or degenerative hip conditions. He is very successful in revising failed hip arthroscopic surgeries. Most importantly, Dr. Sampson strives for personal, thorough, and compassionate care. He enjoys educating his patients on their hip condition so they may participate in their recovery.
